I want a #BoricuaDawn

What are the differences between the diaspora and the Puerto Rican that stays in the island?

These are some of the differences and similarities that those who left and stayed in Puerto Rico have. I would love to understand why we persist on promoting the “#yomequedoaqui” (#imstayinghere) while we continue to divide the only thing that unites us….our love for our island. There are currently a lot of initiatives happening where the diaspora is not included. We, the diaspora, are not cowards because we left, in any case we are brave to have chosen to leave. It takes a lot of courage to leave everything for an unknown “future betterment”. Likewise, you can’t have the diaspora blaming the current situation in the island to those who stayed. As mentioned in the previous article “Game theory”, we need to unite the forces of those who left and strengthen our “Boricua” pride for the common good of our island. We are all suffering from the current situations, indirectly or directly. This is not the moment, to turn our backs…but to unite for a common interest for the wellbeing of our home. What does it matter if I left? Long distance relationships don’t always fail, if there is true love. The diaspora and those who stayed share the same wishes of seeing our island progress and triumph. Videos like the one posted weeks ago about the UPR Cayey chorus, show what unites us Puerto Ricans everywhere… “The Boricua Dawn”.

«We are “Boricuas” in blood
Born and raised
In an island of enchantment

We have mothers and fathers
Friends and siblings
That we constantly miss

We left the “chaos”
For a dream dreamt
And a heart with no clear path to sow

We live content
In an American dream
With music of a coqui from Borinquen”
